Great long term real estate development starts with a vision and a short history of Inverness real estate will give you a good idea of how Inverness became what it is today.

Inverness Il Real Estate Search

In the 1920's a developer from Kennilworth named Arthur T. McIntosh visited the area which was known at the time as Deer Grove in search of a summer retreat for his family. What started out as a search for a summer retreat turned into a vision of developing the high wooded land into an affordable residential community of Chicago for young couples. Advances in transportation and the increasing demand of homes in communities built with a focus on blending with the natural environment began the demand for suburban lifestyles over central cities. McIntosh recognized this opportunity and In 1926 he made his first Inverness IL real estate purchase.  By 1939 he owned several dairy farms, grain farms and Cudahy golf course.

The land he purchased reminded him of Scotland so he named his combined acreage after the capital of the Scottish Highlands, Inverness.

Wanting to preserve the natural landscape of Inverness Real Estate, McIntosh and an associate named Way Thompson worked together to develop the area into an England Like setting. Roads were designed that wove around the hills of Inverness to promote a certain privacy. The first Inverness IL homes built also followed the natural landscape and were built on lots at least one acre in size. Strict building guidelines were put into force that prohibited curbs, streetlights and fences insuring a flowing natural landscape. In addition, thousands of trees were planted throughout the development to enhance the wooded setting.

As Inverness Il real estate grew into a flourishing and distinct community the need to maintain a structured environment led to it's official incorporation as a Village in 1962.
